Cookies, and the absence of them
This site places no cookies in your browser, necessary or otherwise, and writes nothing to its storage. What follows is an inventory, and the inventory is short.
The inventory
Cookies set by the Society: none. Cookies set by anyone else through these pages: none. Local or session storage: none. Analytics, advertising tags, tracking pixels, embedded maps and embedded video: none of them. That is the whole list, and it has been kept that way on purpose.
One request that leaves the site
Pages fetch three typefaces, Pathway Extreme, Hanken Grotesk and DM Mono, from Google Fonts. In serving them, Google learns your IP address along with the routine details a browser discloses with any request, and treats them under its own privacy terms. By Google's own account, the fonts service sets no cookies. The privacy notice covers everything else the Society does, and does not do, with information.
Scripts that forget
The London clock, the filters on the roster and the button that copies the draft message all run inside the page and retain nothing once you leave it. Copying the draft puts it on your own clipboard and nowhere else.
The two message buttons
WhatsApp and Telegram appear as ordinary links. Neither company learns anything from this site until you tap one, and from that moment its own terms apply. The prepared message holds brackets, not your details, and no address on this site ever carries personal information.
Our position on consent
Consent is needed only where something optional happens, and here nothing does, so there is no banner to dismiss. Should that ever change, the Society's stance is settled in advance: analytics would load only after you agreed, refusing would take one tap, exactly as agreeing would, and doing nothing would count as no.
One message to Cressida
Write with the night you have in mind, an hour, and where you will be staying. Cressida answers in the same thread, usually within minutes, with a name and a figure.
