Windsor gives its days to the castle and its evenings to two older habits: a choir singing Evensong inside the walls, and a curtain rising on Thames Street. Between them they explain why a guest who has spent the afternoon in the State Apartments writes to the Society at all. He would like company for the part of the day the coach parties never see, and someone who can talk about what he has just been looking at.
Windsor escorts from the Society are Londoners, every one, introduced by Cressida in writing and driven out from London. Escorts in Windsor are booked in the register of a W1 dinner: a service or a performance first, a table afterwards, then the car back to town or a room on the High Street.
At 22:00
A car at the kerb, a nod at the desk, a knock at the minute agreed.
Companions visit guests at each of these addresses, arriving as any other visitor would. They are given by postcode, never by name: the Society has no arrangement with any hotel.

None of these companions is based in Windsor; they are the names the Society suggests first for it. The whole roster travels here too.
St George's Chapel, in the Lower Ward of the castle, is a working chapel as well as a monument, and its choir sings Evensong there through the week. Of everything Windsor offers, it asks the least of a visitor: those who come for the service rather than the tour are let in to worship, and the singing under that high stone roof is reason enough to have made the journey.
A companion who is to share it must know when to say nothing, and Cressida chooses with that in mind. Karolina, who plays the piano and knows her opera, is an obvious choice; she will have a view on the anthem and keep it until you are outside. The castle's daytime treasures, Queen Mary's Dolls' House and the paintings hung through the State Apartments, supply the first hour of conversation at dinner.
The Theatre Royal stands on Thames Street beneath the castle wall and is the town's evening institution, with a year-round programme of plays and pantomime at Christmas. The house is smaller and less formal than a first night in Covent Garden, and your companion will dress for that room rather than for the Opera House. Luna, whose taste runs to new plays, is good company for an old one too.
A performance with supper after the curtain fits three hours, £1,500; add drinks before it and the evening becomes the Society's four hour dinner, £1,800. For a guest staying over, three hotels keep their doors on the High Street, at SL4 1LJ, SL4 1LH and SL4 1PQ.
SL4 is far outside Zone 2, so the tariff stays as it is and only the journey is added: Cressida prices a taxi each way, adds it to the fee and sends the whole as a single written sum on WhatsApp, for your agreement before anything is fixed. Allow more than the Society's usual hour for W1, and more again when the M4 carries the evening traffic; Cressida sends the precise time once the car has set off. Write by teatime for a curtain that evening. The fee is hers, given by your own hand when she walks in.
Yes, as your guest, dressed for a chapel rather than a dining room. Cressida will choose someone at ease with an hour of choral music and silence. Supper afterwards makes it the four hour dinner, £1,800.
Three hours, £1,500, covers the performance and a late supper. With drinks before the curtain, the dinner date at £1,800 gives the evening room at both ends.
More than the day visitors suppose: Evensong in the chapel, the Theatre Royal's season, and across the river the old streets of Eton for a walk before dinner.
As a taxi out and a taxi back, added to the fee and sent as a single sum for you to accept first. The tariff does not change for SL4; the rates show every length, and the roster every companion.
Every visit is outcall: hotel rooms, serviced flats and private houses. Each figure on the right counts the minutes on foot from the closest station. The whole map.

Give the hotel or street and the hour. Across W1, allow about an hour from Cressida's yes; the exact minute follows as your companion leaves.
