Slim and slender companions, read through the wardrobe

Samanta, 174 cm, dark brown hair, dresses in black tailoring with ink-dark silk and a plain leather watch. She plays the violin most mornings and would begin in the panelled bar of an Art Deco hotel near Oxford Street, pointing out monograms you would never have noticed. Karolina, 174 cm, black hair worn sleek, keeps to long black lines and a silver cuff, and she is considerably funnier than her clothes suggest.

Violetta, 178 cm, dresses in sand, camel and gold, reads fast and swims long distances in cold water. Her tailoring is minimal enough that the one gold bangle becomes the whole statement.

Liana, 167 cm, chestnut hair, keeps to pale neutrals and fine knitwear and moves with a pilates-trained grace; a bench in Mount Street Gardens with a novel, then a French dinner, is her ideal. Vanessa, 173 cm, with a sandy balayage, dresses like the last week of August, white cotton, wide linen, a little bare gold, and chooses a scent to suit the season.

Patricia, 172 cm, auburn brown hair, favours printed florals in summer and velvet in winter, and paints in watercolour every day. Of the three she is the most romantic, and the likeliest to suggest a bookshop before dinner.

Margo, 166 cm, dark brown hair, favours bias-cut silk, old gold at the ears and a velvet bag with decades behind it; none of it is new and all of it is chosen. Her evenings begin in a gallery and move slowly from there. Lucy, 163 cm, dark curls, prefers silver-grey silk under a long knitted coat, and a moonstone ring that gets turned whenever the conversation reaches the stars.

Cindy, 168 cm, long blonde waves, pairs pale silk with tailored trousers and a sailing watch on canvas. Stacy, 176 cm, near-black hair almost to her waist, dresses for late nights: a metallic top, a leather jacket and boots that add a few more centimetres to a height that hardly needs them.
